Grace | Class of 2027 Senior Portraits
Some Senior Portrait sessions are extra special, and Grace’s was certainly one of them!
I’ve known Grace for quite some time! Little did I know when I first photographed her at KYFL Photo Day in 2019, wearing her adorable little cheer uniform, that she would one day become one of my longest employed and favorite photographers, and more importantly, a wonderful friend. It’s been such a joy watching her grow from that sweet little cheerleader into the incredible young woman she is today!
Grace is incredibly special to me, and when it was finally time for her own Class of 2027 Senior Portrait Session, we wanted to make sure she felt just as special as she has made so many of our clients feel over the years.
I still can’t believe you’re a Senior, Grace!
Grace has always had a maturity beyond her years, along with a kind heart and a fun personality. Photographing this milestone for her was something I had been looking forward to for a very long time.
A Little Rustic Style and Family Heritage
Grace began her Senior Portrait session in the most adorable denim dress and brought along beautiful bouquets of flowers to incorporate into her portraits.
The denim looked absolutely perfect against the rustic red barn, which was especially fitting with the Collins family farm heritage. It created a beautiful combination of country charm, family history and Grace’s personal style.
She also brought along miniature American flags to tuck into her bouquet, giving a sweet nod to her patriotic roots. These little personal details are exactly what make custom Senior Portraits so meaningful. They tell a story about who you are right now and the people, traditions and experiences that helped shape you.
Dancing Through the Prairie
Next, Grace changed into a darling black sundress with tiny polka dots. So cute!
We found a patch of brilliant yellow flowers that created the perfect pop of color against her black dress. After a few quick portraits there, we headed into the prairie where her dress flowed beautifully among the tall grasses and tiny white flowers.
And this is where the fun really began!
Grace skipped, hopped, danced and twirled her way through the prairie, giving us a collection of Senior Portraits filled with movement and personality. These are the moments I love during a Senior session because the photographs begin to feel less posed and more like the person standing in front of my camera.
We eventually made our way down to the water for a few lovely portraits and some playful images on the rocks.
A Bouquet Straight From Mom’s Garden
For her next look, Grace chose a lovely light and airy top covered in delicate pastel flowers. I immediately knew the prairie field would be the perfect setting.
But before we made it to the prairie, we were blessed with a gorgeous glow from the setting sun. It added an incredible warmth to the water behind her. I had Grace sit on the logs made into benches for a few quiet and calm images, surrounded by beautiful color and warmth.
After creating a few portraits among the flowers, we wandered onto the prairie path for more fun and creative images.
But there was one detail that made this part of Grace’s session especially meaningful.
Grace brought along a beautiful bouquet picked from her mom’s garden.
Knowing those flowers came from home made the photographs even more personal, and seeing Grace include them in her Senior Portraits brought her mom a heart full of joy. Someday, those photographs will mean even more than they do today.
That is one of the things I love most about Senior Photography. The clothing and beautiful locations are wonderful, but it is often the smallest personal details that become the most treasured.
It’s Official! Grace Is a Senior!
We finished Grace’s session with the milestone every Class of 2027 Senior has been waiting for... the cap and gown!
Along with her traditional cap and gown Senior Portraits, we created some casual and playful images and included a custom sign announcing Grace’s Senior Year.
What a perfect way to finish such a memorable evening!
Grace, I loved photographing your Senior Portraits more than you know. From that little cheerleader I photographed years ago to the talented photographer, beautiful young woman and wonderful friend standing in front of my camera today, it has truly been a joy watching you grow.
The memories of how much fun we had creating these photographs will always make me smile.
